I am seriously considering moving the gist of this bLog to a different location. My thoughts are that perhaps a bLog with my name on it should be about me; in spite of my not being one to toot his own horn. Times change.
However, I'm not one to make hasty decisions; so we'll see how things pan out.
This bLog has gone through many changes since it's creation. Up until now, it didn't have much of a direction. Perhaps the timing just wasn't right; who can say for sure? Now, however, it has the most important purpose it can possibly have: You! How can that be? Well, obviously, those who don't stick around are unlikely to find out any time soon. But I'm not interested in them; because they're not you!

Fred
I know a picture is worth a thousand words and I really should take a current one of Fred... At the moment, however, his eyes still need a bit of "tweeking". So, for now, I'm just going to do my best to explain how Fred managed to become part of the family:
He's only been with us a few years now. His name is actually Wilfred (the Wizard) and we came real close to having a Winnefred (the Witch) to go with him, but the stores didn't carry the Holloween stuff they had in the past. So, Fred's still on his own.
He stands about seven feet tall and under the robes, face mask and hat he's actually a skeleton buttler. The skeleton's head is a bit too big, so the mask doesn't fit as well as it could; which means that the eye sockets are too far from the skeleton's eyes.
Fortunately, I just happen to own a pair of glass eyes and my daughter recently fixed Fred up with them. Again, they don't exactly fit the sockets just right; so I'll be using some silly putty so they look better. After that, I'll take a picture and post it.
Before we bought the butler, Fred used to be just a head. I had the mask on a styrofoam head for wigs with the glass eyes pressed into the styrofoam and, of course, the hat. All of that sat atop a camera tripod... The Addams family had "Thing"; we had "Fred", but now he's more like Lurch.

What's with the ...
Cowboy hat?
Well, that's something of a war story in and of itself. I do own a real wizard's hat, after all. However, it and my wizard's robe are on loan to Fred.
Who's Fred?
Ahhh, well, that's another war story entirely. So, I'll get back to Fred later; whether that's alright with you or not. First things first, you know.
So, where were we? Oh, that's right: the Cowboy hat. It's not the same one I started out with well over thirty years ago; but it still has the same look, feel and shape. But that still doesn't answer the question.
I would think the answer would be rather obvious... Exactly how many of us wizards do you see roaming around in a wide brimmed, pointed hat? I suppose a better question would be: how many of them are still married?
So, putting two & two together, you should have your answer by now. If not, take some time to think about it a bit more.

War Stories
As I mentioned in the previous post, this article is about War Stories. As I keep pointing out, however, they're not going to be my War Stories; even though I have survived my fair share of battles.
No, this is a prompt (or a "call to action") for (and/or by) you to begin contributing to this bLog. I (and no doubt others as well) am(/are) seriuosly interested in learning about your trials and tribulations.
What has happened in your life that stands out from the ordinary and the mundane. Surely there's at least one event that's worth being shared with the world.
If you have a bLog of your own, feel free to link your story back to it (especially if it's part of your story). If you don't have your own bLog (yet or otherwise), all the better; as this can then become your bLog. After all, YOU are it's primary reason for even existing; and without you...
...well, what would be the point? So, share and share alike!

Spin Offs
I recently stumbled across John Chow's course on bLogging due to an email I received from The Wacky Gang <wackysales@gmail.com>. It's not a bad course and the only real complaint I have about it is that the 30 day Plan portion of it is "parted out".
In any event, to make a long story short; it lead to me creating a new web log: Knight-Quests. If you happen to go there, you'll find that it's similar to this bLog. The question remains as to whether I'll continue with this one; as the new site has 80% of my attention right now. However, even though it's similar, it is not exactly the same: the "missions" behind each is significantly different.
This sight will be the tougher of the two to maintain; as there are no set goals beyond simply getting to know you. In this day and age, not many of us want others to get very close. Our comfort zones are rather definitive and we prefer to keep others at a fair distance. Fortunately, this isn't true for everyone. There are those, like you for instance, that realize that life is all about sharing.
That looks like a good stopping point for now and is an excellent lead in to my next post on War Stories.

Juice Balls
I suppose that one of the hardest things with any new (or totally revamped) web log is getting the ball rolling. When one first starts out, the juices are flowing and things seem great; but if all one ends up doing is talking to one's self... Well, that can turn out to be very discomforting and fairly depressing.
I, myself, do not come from a large family. Nor do I have a large circle of friends (yet). I am optimistic though and I trust that they will show up shortly. However, they and I already know each other and at the moment--> You are the unknown factor.
No worries though; as the ball is still in the process of being chipped from the stone. Your arrival here may have happened in the past, is happening in the present and will undoubtedly continue to happen in the future. It's all a matter of understanding what is and what isn't. Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

So, who are you?
...and why am I taking an interest in you?
Why did Merlin take an interest in Arthur? If you don't know the answer to that, then you need to expand your horizons and you'll soon discover that life is all about our horizons.
Some of us can't see through the haze before us. Some are afraid of what lies beyond and not the least bit adventurous. Would any of us have heard about Bilbo if he hadn't opened his door to Gandalf (and the dwarves)?
Well, think of yourself as Bilbo and me as Gandalf; if it helps.
Whether the adventure you're about to embark upon is real or virtual remains to be seen. However, if you don't ask questions... ...the least you can do is answer mine!
